New Sky Airline flights begin today, January 2, 2024, connecting Salvador – Montevideo – Santiago and also the route connecting Florianópolis – Montevideo, both with Airbus A320Neo.

This new planned route offers travelers the option of having two distinct destinations on a single route, without the need for immigration in Uruguay for passengers with Santiago as their final destination. Regular flights will operate throughout the year, on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays.

According to the schedule, passengers will depart the capital of Bahia at 1:30 pm on flight H2 641, bound for Montevideo and then Santiago. On return, flights will depart Santiago on flight H2 640 at 5:10 am, with a brief stop in Montevideo before continuing to Salvador.

Julio Ribas, CEO of Salvador Bahia Airport, expressed the airport’s strategic role in this new route: “The new flight to Santiago and Montevideo reflects our ongoing commitment to promoting international connectivity through Salvador Airport. This initiative reinforces our dedication to providing accessible and convenient options for passengers, as well as strengthening commercial and tourist ties between Brazil and other countries in South America.”

“We are happy to continue growing in the region, as, by entering Salvador, SKY adds a fifth destination in Brazil. This will allow more passengers to connect to the network of more than 40 destinations operated by SKY in the Americas. The objective of this bet is to make the sky available to everyone so that our company becomes the preferred low cost in Latin America, with an affordable, safe and sustainable model, with the newest and least polluting planes in the region”, says José Ignacio Dougnac, CEO of SKY Airline.

The Florianópolis – Montevideo, capital of Uruguay, route will also operate three times a week. With this new route, SKY becomes the most important foreign airline in the State of Santa Catarina.

“We are happy to continue growing in the region, as, by entering Salvador, SKY adds a fifth destination in Brazil, following Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Porto Alegre and Florianópolis.

For Ricardo Gesse, CEO of Zurich Airport Brasil, “The arrival of two new international destinations, one of them unprecedented in Santa Catarina – Lima, reinforces our important partnership with SKY, which brought to Florianópolis in a pioneering way a successful route to Santiago do Chile. The new options reinforce the airport’s potential to become a hub in South America. With these flights we will offer a total of 7 international destinations during the high season, which proves the internationalization of Florianópolis Airport”.
