Generation X people found themselves in the past when the Bye bye 2023 brought the characters of Rooms in town. For the actress Patricia Paquin, as for Louise Deschâtelets, this unexpected filming was a mixture of pure happiness, sweet nostalgia and the pleasure of finding old playmates: Anne Dorval, Francis Reddy, Gregory Charles, Gilbert Lachance and Vincent Gratton .
“It is an honor to be in the Bye byewhich had never even been part of my wish list. Even in my wildest dreams, I never imagined being part of the Bye bye. And there, it was offered to me on a silver platter,” says Patricia Paquin, in an interview with Journal.
The absurdity of the texts, the costumes, the wigs and the skillfully designed sets (even the tapestry and the paintings on the walls were identical!) contributed to taking the entire team of actors back to the era of this show which succeeded in marking Quebec culture.
“Simon-Olivier Fecteau put his finger on it. This sketch seeks the fiber of nostalgia. Especially in a year that is a little more difficult and gloomy. These are feelings that feel good,” believes the actress who played the role of Geneviève, the former ski champion.

Same story with Louise Deschâtelets who, although she never called herself a comedian, always had this desire to one day participate in the legendary Bye bye.
“It was a great pleasure to find ourselves on set, in this setting so perfect down to the last detail, with all these costumes and hairstyles of great precision. We were transported 30 years earlier. It was moving, touching and a little scary, because we see time passing. It was a nice reunion and we are indebted to the designers of the Bye bye for allowing us to experience this,” she explains to Journal.
Secret projects for Patricia Paquin
Patricia Paquin managed to keep her participation in the Bye bye 2023 to his friends. His phone therefore began to ring and vibrate with messages of surprise and emotion on the evening of December 31. Flavie, the daughter of the author of Rooms in town, Sylvie Payette was one of the first to contact her to tell her that her mother loved the sketch. Also on his social networks, positive comments have multiplied.
«Rooms in town represents the beginning of the 90s and my beginnings in the profession. It’s 100% sure that I wouldn’t have gotten to where I am today without having been there. It was a great gift at the time. My life has completely changed. Since then, my career has been filled with wonderful surprises. I will never relive something as intense as this series,” says the actress, who wore the same costume as during the very first episode of Rooms in town.
She also had to keep her participation in the second season of the adventure reality show to herself. Get me out of here, until the very recent reveal of the cast. Broadcasting will begin in March on TVA.
Patricia Paquin continues her work on Rythme FM radio, will host the documentary series The test of words (on the issues of dyslexia) shortly on Télé-Québec and refine the show The EXseparables which she delivers with her former lover, the comedian Mathieu Gratton.
