He celebrated his 71 ans only a few weeks ago and yet Shigeru Miyamoto, the father of Mariobut also The Legend of Zelda or Star Fox et Donkey Kong, is not regarding to retire!

He works at Nintendo since now over 40 years old and has worked on so many games that it’s complicated to make a list. However, even at his age, he explains that he is not ready for rest!

Shigeru Miyamoto doesn’t want to stop working!

It was during an interview with The Guardian that the producer has expressed his desire to continue in the industry for a while longer, to a rather surprising extent.

“More than retirement, I think regarding the day I fall. In this day and age, you have to think regarding things over a five-year period, and so I think regarding the people to whom I can pass things on, in case something something would happen.”

More than retirement therefore, Miyamoto is thinking regarding how to be sure that everything is settled before something potentially happens to him.

Of course, we hope that everything goes well for Zelda’s dad, but this vision very pragmatic is also a good sign for fans, we shouldn’t see him disappear from the gaming scene anytime soon!

Too much attachment to retire for Miyamoto?

It would be quite logical to think that it is for fear of losing control over his babies that the producer refuses to give up his place, however, Nothing to have !

“I’m really grateful to see that there’s so much energy around the things I’ve been working on. These are things that have already appeared around the world… they’ve been cultivated by others, other people have made them grow, helped them develop, so in that sense I don’t feel too much ownership over them anymore.”

Miyamoto is therefore already sufficiently detached from his licenses to no longer be included in projects as much as in the past and might therefore pass on the torch at any time, but for now, it seems he still enjoys the office!
