Ayman’s ex-wife, Bahjat Qamar, wrote on her personal Facebook account, commenting on this matter: “I cannot comprehend the spread of the news of my and Ayman’s divorce and the linking of words he wrote in a song to his divorce from the mother of his children and his ten-year-old… and the news spreading on all websites… and the door was opened. The joke and clowning on social media… A link that contains an insult once morest Ayman and severe annoyance for me because he upset my children very, very much… A grain of principles and respect for people’s privacy, O human beings!!!!! God suffices me, and He is the best disposer of affairs in every harmful letter I write.”
While Qamar commented on a number of followers linking the lyrics of the song “I Don’t Know Anyone by This Name,” which he wrote and included in Amr Diab’s new album, “Your Place,” to the news of his separation from his wife, Engy Abdel Hafez, following a marriage that lasted 20 years.
Qamar asked his followers not to make any connection between his personal life and the songs he writes, saying on his personal Facebook page: “There is news that has come out containing hints because of the song ‘I don’t know anyone with that name.’” He added: “I hope no one makes a connection between my personal life and the songs I write, because this topic really keeps bothering me, both those close to me and strangers, with all due respect to all people.”
He concluded his speech sarcastically: “As for the song with high morale, there is a sentence in it that says: There is no salvation for anyone who has a need for me… I also wanted to clarify that this, of course, has nothing to do with people who have money from me… Happy New Year to everyone.”
