A story of alleged embezzlement shakes the Lonase agency in Tambacounda. F. Barro, aged 51, found herself in a delicate situation following a financial hole exceeding 3 million CFA francs was discovered in the accounts.

The saleswoman, in charge of the sale of PMU bets, would have regularly sold considerable sums, amounting to several tens of millions of CFA francs. However, those responsible for the structure were alerted to a notable shortfall, exceeding 3 million CFA francs, in the payments of sums collected by this employee.

Faced with this situation, F. Barro was ordered by her superiors to return all of the funds collected from her sales. According to L’Observateur, despite warnings and repeated requests, the seller was unable to pay this missing sum.

Consequently, Lonase officials filed a complaint with the Research Section of the Tambacounda gendarmerie.

Investigators were dispatched to arrest F. Barro, following which she was taken to the police station. During her hearings, she admitted a financial failure exceeding 3 million CFA francs.

Faced with increasing pressure, she admitted to having tried her luck in a virtual game of chance, hoping to win enough to repay the missing sum to the company. An attempt did not bear fruit.

Following her custody, F. Barro was presented before the Tambacounda public prosecutor’s office and will be the subject of an appearance before the Tambacounda felony court.
