It’s no secret that Guinea is going through a major economic crisis. The Budget Minister goes so far as to describe the situation as a “galley” that Guineans should manage.

Dr Lanciné Condé was, Sunday January 31, 2023, before the national advisors. Responding to questions from advisors on the budget cuts noted in the initial 2024 Finance Act, he did not go back of the spoon. He explained clearly that Guinea is lacking resources and the needs are enormous.

“I apologize, the term is not appropriate, but we have to call things what they are, we have to manage the mess. There are few resources and a lot of expenses. So we have to prioritize and send a little to each sector to ensure that we remain robust until the end. This is what we are doing and if resources allow, the efforts will increase in scale,” underlines Dr Lanciné Condé, Minister of the Budget.

He also suggested that during 2024, the Amending Finance Law intervenes earlier and more than once unlike in previous years. He also hoped that these occasions would serve as opportunities to find additional financing for certain sectors.
