Accident, excess drinking or indigestion… The day following New Year’s Eve, there is generally a traffic jam in the emergency department. We took the pulse of the emergency rooms at Bastia hospital, which is also facing a shortage of practitioners.
The flu, covid and gastroenteritis have taken their toll. And not just among patients. At Bastia hospital, seven doctors have been off work for several days. Suffice to say that, during the end-of-year holidays, it significantly complicates the already not easy daily life of emergencies.
So the Bastia hospital and the Regional Health Agency asked the population to go through 15 before going to the emergency room, so that a specialist can tell them if it is necessary.
