Suyeong-gu, Busan, held the ‘Gwangalli M Drone Light Show’ performance using 2,000 drones at Gwangalli Beach at around 7:20 pm on the 1st.
The performance, which had already been canceled once due to a communication failure, began in the evening following being delayed by regarding 20 minutes due to a communication failure.
However, the performance went on without incident, including producing New Year’s countdown numbers and embroidering the image of the ‘Blue Dragon’ in the night sky.
Earlier, at midnight on this day, regarding 82,000 people, including citizens and foreign tourists from all over the country, gathered at Gwangalli Beach to watch the drone show.
However, due to a sudden communication failure, the performance was canceled around 0:30.
Visitors who had paid extra for months in advance to reserve accommodations or waited in the cold sea breeze to see the show were infuriated.
In the end, Suyeong-gu issued an apology in the name of District Mayor Kang Seong-tae.
Commissioner Kang said, “With more than twice the number of people compared to the previous year, an unexpected communication problem occurred,” adding, “We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused to visitors who showed interest and support.”
