The first accident involving a Tesla Cybertruck has occurred following a Toyota Corolla unexpectedly veered into the opposite lane and collided with the recently launched pickup in Northern California on Thursday.

“2023. on December 28th at approximately 2:05 p.m., units of the California Highway Patrol (CHP) in Redwood City were dispatched to a two-vehicle accident on SR-35… Our preliminary investigation indicates that a Toyota Corolla was traveling southbound on SR-35 south of Page Mill Road at an unknown speed when the driver made a right turn for unknown reasons and subsequently struck the right curb.” the California Highway Patrol wrote in its report.

“The Toyota then returned to the roadway, crossed the center line and crossed into the opposite northbound lane before colliding with a Tesla Cybertruck traveling northbound on SR-35. The Tesla driver is believed to have suffered minor injuries and refused medical attention. No other injuries were reported. It appears that the Tesla Cybertruck’s autopilot feature was not engaged. The case is under investigation.” the police added.

According to photos from the crash, the Cybertruck sustained minimal damage, but the Corolla appears to be a total loss.

According to Elon Musk, Cybertruck is one of the safest cars

As you can see in the video below, the front of the Toyota was completely crushed and drifted into the ditch, while the Tesla pickup escaped more or less unscathed.

By the way, Elon Musk’s company already confidently announced the pickup super-powerful, Cover made of 301 series stainless steel.

Musk also stated that the Cybertruck is one of the safest cars for both passengers and pedestrians, but this has not been confirmed by any company, as no one has yet tested the pickup except for Tesla.

“If you argue with another car, you will win.” Musk said at the Cybertruck launch event in Austin earlier this month.
