During a ski tour in Kleinwalsertal, a 53-year-old German woman fell over a slope into a stream, where she remained lying with her head in the water. Her companion got down to the woman, but the victim no longer showed any signs of life. Attempts at resuscitation by the first aider and the emergency doctor who were called were unsuccessful.
The two tourers had started their ski tour in the morning in Baad (Bregenz district) and were on their way along the so-called summer path through the Tura Valley towards Güntlispitze. Due to the icy snow cover, the two tourers mounted crampons on their touring skis following crossing the Derrenbach and continued the climb. After another short climb in steeper terrain, the 53-year-old woman tipped over during a turn and slid 100 to 120 meters down the steep slope without being able to grab hold.
