A description of the springs was also added in the lengthy caption, explaining hot water ‘forms a series of terraces composed of travertine deposited by hydrothermal springs that have flowed into the valley near the north end’ of Yellowstone Park.
‘The unique colors of the spring water reflect diverse minerals in the travertine, including an iron oxide, which lends the terraces their yellowish-brown color.’
The water in the springs can reach temperatures of 125 degrees Fahrenheit and ‘dissolved limestone and other minerals crystallize out, forming the travertine deposits…’
In one picture, Brosnan might be seen sitting in a chair with a scenic landscape and mountains in the distance behind him.
He also included another photo as he removed his hat to pause for a selfie as the sun shone down on him.
‘A new hat from Aspen Hatter, Austin Texas …making memories in Montana,’ the Mamma Mia! star penned to his 2.1 million followers.

He has been cited twice over the alleged violations on November 1, and is scheduled to appear in court on January 23.
The star has been charged with Foot Travel in a Thermal Area and Closure Violation, according to court documents filed on Tuesday.
He is due to appear before U.S. Magistrate Judge Stephanie Hambrick next month.
The Mammoth Terraces are a popular feature in Yellowstone, constantly changing in color and activity.
Federal rules stipulate visitors to national parks must stay on the designated walkways. Venturing off the boardwalk is punishable by up to six months in jail and a fine of up to $5,000.
Brosnan is just the latest tourist to try to bend the rules at the stunning park. At least 22 people have died from burns sustained in Yellowstone’s springs and geysers.
In 2021, a Connecticut woman was jailed for seven days, fined $2,000 and banned from Yellowstone for two years for leaving the walkway and approaching the thermals.
In June, shocking video emerged of a couple ignoring warnings at they attempted to touch 175-degree geysers elsewhere in the park.
