Two Chipotle customers in North Carolina were arrested following allegedly beating an employee following a dispute over a food order, jumping her as she walked out of the restaurant to end her shift.
Jamel Bernard Williams, 36, and Kayla Nicole Pyle, 34, allegedly had a dispute with the restaurant employee regarding a food order they placed on December 10, according to the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office.
The police didn’t reveal details regarding what the dispute was regarding, but the New York Post reported that Williams and Pyle were informed that they would have to pay extra for extra portions of chicken in their food.
“I don’t know what was said between Pyle and the victim, but the victim was leaving for home and was chased down from behind by Williams and attacked in the dining room of the restaurant,” said Sheriff Barry Faile, who said the attack was “unjustified.”
The victim had just ended her shift and was heading home before Williams approached her.
“He pushed her to the floor and began hitting her, pulling her hair, and jerking her around,” the police said. “Pyle joined and struck the victim.”
Williams and Pyle then left the restaurant and the police were called to the scene. The severity of the victim’s injuries is unknown, but she sought treatment on her own.
Police identified Williams and Pyle through surveillance cameras inside the restaurant and witness testimonies.
On Wednesday, Williams was charged with first-degree assault and battery, while Pyle was charged with second-degree assault and battery.
