Congestion at the entrances

Vienna (OTS) – On the last weekend of the year, the ÖAMTC mobility information recorded traffic jams in western Austria.

“There were delays especially when traveling to the ski areas,” summarized traffic expert Moritz Pisecker, “Salzburg, Tyrol and Vorarlberg were the most affected.”

It took longer, among other things, on the Tauern Autobahn (A10) in the construction area between Kuchl andwerfen in the direction of Villach, where traffic in front of the Ofenau Tunnel was only handled in blocks.

In Tyrol, progress was particularly slow on the Fernpassstraße (B179) between the Füssen and Reutte Süd border tunnel and on the Zillertal Straße (B169), where a block clearance was imposed in front of the Brettfalltunnel.

The Rhine Valley Motorway (A14), at the exit into Montafon, was the main congestion point in Vorarlberg and as a result there were also delays on the Montafoner Straße (L188).

Club reminds us of driving bans on state roads in Tyrol

On weekends and public holidays, driving bans for evasive traffic apply on several state roads or on the lower-level road network in the Kufstein and Reutte districts from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. In the Schwaz district, the regulation only applies on Saturdays. The ÖAMTC informs that destination, source and local traffic is excluded. This measure is intended to prevent long traffic jams in town thoroughfares.
