Modi Mamadou Oury, a 60-year-old shepherd, shot his son, Mamadou Ghando Bah, with a live bullet before killing himself. The drama was triggered by the criticisms made by his son concerning his way of taking care of the livestock, thus relaying the criticisms coming from the neighborhood.

According to the testimony of Amadou Makka Bah, nephew of the shepherd, Modi Mamadou Oury did not properly take care of the herd of cattle entrusted to him. Following his son’s awareness, informed of the criticism from those around him, a heated discussion broke out between father and son. They even consulted the village chief to seek his opinion on the situation.

Visibly dissatisfied with the outcome of this meeting, Modi Mamadou Oury opened fire on his son. Thinking that the latter had succumbed to his injuries, he then shot himself in the head. The son, who is himself the father of three children, is currently alive and hospitalized at the Pita prefectural hospital, as reported by Guinéenews.
