We know Harry Potter, who discovered himself a wizard overnight. And then there is Percy Jackson, an American pre-teen who learns one fine morning that he is none other than the son of Poseidon. There he is, a demigod in a t-shirt and sneakers, suddenly responsible for the destiny of the Olympians… and the whole world.

We owe this epic connection to Rick Riordan, an American novelist who had the brilliant idea, in the early 2000s, of transposing the myths of ancient Greece into the modern world. Thus is born the successful literary saga Percy Jackson, triumph of children’s literature, soon adapted into films. To start with Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief 2010 which, even with Chris Columbus (Mrs Doubtfire, Mom I missed the plane) at the rudder, falls a little flat – to the point of angering the writer.
