Alappuzha: Strict traffic and safety restrictions will be imposed in the city from 2 pm tomorrow (December 31) for public safety in connection with the New Year celebrations at Alappuzha beach. As part of the New Year celebrations, more than 500 police personnel will be deployed in the city for security duty and traffic arrangements under the supervision of Alappuzha District Superintendent of Police and under the leadership of Alappuzha DySP.

Vehicular traffic towards Alappuzha beach is strictly restricted from 2 pm onwards. No vehicle parking is permitted on Beach Road under any circumstances. Only emergency traffic will be allowed on the underpass near Alappuzha Formatting. Vehicular traffic is not allowed on the E road towards the beach under any circumstances.
Vehicles arriving as part of the New Year celebrations should park only at Alappuzha Recreation Ground, FCI Road near the Light House, CCNB Road, the road north of Dutch Square and the road on both sides of the canal north of Muppalam. Illegally parked vehicles will be removed using a recovery vehicle and the owner will be presented before the court and fined.

In conjunction with the Mararikulam Beach Festival, only eastbound vehicles will be allowed to go to Mararikulam Beach on the National Highway from Kilithatt junction. Vehicles coming from Marari Beach should take a left or right turn following reaching Mararikulam Beach Junction on Coastal Road.
