According to official figures, at least 16 people have been injured as a result of Russian rocket attacks on the eastern Ukrainian city of Kharkiv. Among other things, a residential building in the city center was hit, wrote Mayor Ihor Terekhov on Telegram on Saturday evening. Several people were taken to hospitals. The Ukrainian Air Force also announced that the Russian army had once more launched combat drones.
Warnings were issued for Kherson, Mykolaiv and Dnipropetrovsk regions, among others. Just a few days ago, Russia hit Ukraine with the worst wave of attacks since the war began almost two years ago. On Friday night, the Russians shelled the neighboring country with a total of almost 160 rockets, cruise missiles and drones of various types. According to Ukrainian sources, at least 39 people were killed.
The UN Security Council meeting following the Ukrainian attack on Belgorod was scheduled to begin at 4:00 p.m. New York time (10:00 p.m. CEST). The Russian UN mission announced this on Saturday. Three other security members confirmed the meeting.
The Russian Emergencies Ministry said “twelve adults and two children were killed” in Belgorod on Saturday night. Among the 108 injured, 15 were children. Video footage, the authenticity of which might not initially be verified, showed streets littered with rubble and clouds of smoke rising from burned-out cars in the center of Belgorod. A massive explosion might be heard in dashcam footage posted on online networks.
