Apple doesn’t usually present major changes between immediately neighboring generations of iPhones. As a result, the last “big” change we had on the screen of Apple smartphones was in 2020, with the arrival of devices in the iPhone 12 line. But it seems that 2024 has new things in store for us on this subject…
Reinforcing previous rumors, the iPhones 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max should feature slightly larger screens compared to the current generation, the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max. Consequently, it is also to be expected that the new generation of devices will have a body slightly larger and wider.
Check the size difference in the comparison tables below:
If the changes are confirmed, it is possible that Apple will gain a little more internal space in the devices, having a few extra millimeters to allocate components or, who knows, increase the device’s battery capacity a little.
In addition to the size of the screens, we may also see some improvements in relation to the display technology itself.
According to rumors, the Cupertino company is evaluating the use of micro-lens technology to increase or maintain the brightness of OLED displays on new devices while reducing energy consumption. It appears that Samsung may be working – specifically for Apple – on a new set of materials to improve the screens of the new iPhones.
iPhone 16 e 16 Plus
Despite the possible changes that might reach the Pro models, no changes are expected regarding the screen and body size of the brand’s “normal” smartphones. As a result, the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus should reach the market with the same size as their predecessors.
This story should only change chapters in the iPhone 17 and 17 Plus, in 2025. In these models, Apple is expected to make some changes to the display sizes, even changing the screen aspect ratio, adopting 19.6:9.
However, despite the lack of changes in the screen department, it seems that Apple may bring changes to the rear design of the as-yet-unreleased iPhone 16 and 16 Plus; check out.
