The Latam group announced an additional order for five Boeing 787 Dreamliner as a way of continuing to advance its commitment to being more efficient and sustainable. The agreement consolidates the group as the largest Dreamliner operator in Latin America.
Added to the deliveries already scheduled of this model for the coming years, the Latam group will reach a total of 46 Boeing 787 aircraft, an increase of 20 aircraft of this model in relation to the pre-pandemic fleet.
The investment reinforces the group’s commitment to having one of the most modern and efficient fleets in South America. Another novelty is that the next 787 will leave the factory with GEnx engines, with the Latam group being the first in South America to have the equipment from GE Aerospace recognized worldwide for performance and efficiency.
According to information from its manufacturer, the GEnx engine family has more than 50 million flight hours since its entry into service in 2011 and is GE’s highest-powered and fastest-selling engine, with almost 3,000 engines in service. and on a waiting list, including spare parts.
The 787 Dreamliner family of aircraft offers superior fuel efficiency, keeping airlines competitive. The Boeing 787 uses 25% less fuel and generates 25% fewer emissions than the planes it replaces, according to data from its manufacturer. The Boeing 787-9 can carry 300 passengers and has the capacity to travel a distance of approximately 14,010 km.
The Boeing 787 was designed for comfort, with a spacious cabin, adjustable LED lighting, larger windows, better air quality, technology that detects and neutralizes turbulence for a smoother flight and spacious overhead bins for a better flight experience, according to data of its manufacturer.
Currently, the Latam group has 332 aircraft, 56 of which are Boeing passenger aircraft (models 767, 777 and 787) and 256 Airbus aircraft (models A319, A320, A320neo, A321 and A321neo). In addition, Latam Cargo has 20 cargo aircraft.
