At least 14 Eurostar trains were canceled on Saturday morning due to a track closure near London, the company announced.
“Due to an infrastructure problem on the high-speed line near London, we are forced to cancel some trains to or from London,” Eurostar wrote on its website. These cancellations, which occur during one of the busiest weekends of the year, will strand thousands of passengers.
According to the British agency PA, trains were canceled due to flooding of a tunnel in the south of England. According to PA, they have been canceled “until the end of the day” while heavy rain is expected.
On December 21, in the middle of the holiday departure period, Eurostar passengers were already faced with numerous train cancellations due to a surprise strike which paralyzed the Channel Tunnel.
