Faid chairs coordination meeting

ALGIERS – Minister of Finance, Laaziz Faid chaired a periodic coordination meeting, aimed at examining the progress of the digitalization of the ministry’s services, with particular emphasis on the tax, domains and customs sectors , during which he notably highlighted the importance of building an integrated information system.

“As part of the implementation of the orientations of the President of the Republic provided during the meeting of the Council of Ministers of December 24, 2023, the Minister of Finance, Laaziz Faid chaired, Thursday, December 28, 2023, at the level of his ministerial department, a periodic coordination meeting, aimed at examining the progress of the digitalization of the ministry’s services, with particular emphasis on the tax, domains and customs sectors”, specified a press release from the ministry.

This high-level “strategic” meeting brought together the heads of different departments and structures of the ministry, it is emphasized.

On this occasion, Mr. Faid underlined “the crucial importance of building an integrated information system for the Ministry of Finance, in consultation with stakeholders, thus allowing a harmonious interconnection of different services and a generalization of digitalization to all government sectors.

This aims to “promote the interoperability of the information systems of each structure, thus facilitating the implementation of digitalization in all areas, notably taxes, domains and customs. This holistic approach aims to improve efficiency overall operational performance”, explains the document.

During this meeting, each structure representative presented the progress of the digitalization file in their sector, detailing the progress made and the challenges encountered so far.

Furthermore, the minister “urged all the structures present to maintain and strengthen the dynamic initiated by setting precise deadlines for the completion of planned actions.”

He also insisted on “the importance of ensuring an effective transition to interconnected and accessible digital government services,” the ministry said.

He also declared “we aim to offer citizens and businesses innovative digital solutions that will simplify their interactions with tax, state and customs services.”

In addition, this meeting made it possible to review progress related to the implementation of performance contracts by objectives (CPO).

On this subject, Mr. Faid urged all structures to implement these performance contracts from January 2024.

“This approach will ensure rapid and effective implementation of the actions and objectives set, while guaranteeing rigorous monitoring of performance indicators,” the press release concludes.
