The Austrian quartet DREAM DEMISE only came together this year following various musical fields of activity from different directions and has already delivered their first album in the DIY style with “Desperate Times”.
Given the rumbling, yet powerful sound and the lack of a label, one would probably have spoken of it as a demo in the past. But the worlds have been blurring for a long time anyway. But all that really matters is that you can now listen to just over 35 minutes of what the newcomers from our country have to offer here.
You start the action aggressively, pissed off and motivated in the form of “Iron Crown”. There’s a lot of rumbling somewhere between Death, Thrash and Core, so here and there AT THE GATES, THE CROWN or DIMENSION ZERO come to mind as vague role models. The vocals are also quite raw, rough and not exactly friendly. The riffs are nice, the bass booms well from behind and the beats are also in the dynamic numbers, while Roland Moore barks pissed off and Armin K. Fellner contributes a few clean vocals here and there. Sometimes it even gets more rocky, which loosens up the band’s sound between the wild, sometimes cumbersome aggro attacks and provides variety.
All in all, DREAM DEMISE are already showing their potential, making you want to go to live shows and are motivated and pissed enough to create big mosh pits. The boys still have a lot of work to do to attract international attention, but this entertaining work promises that there might be a lot more to come in the future.
