Red Dead Redemption 2: Players can finally explore Mexico, no mods necessary

While the Red Dead Redemption 2 sequel seems like a distant dream, players are content to explore the 2018 action-adventure game in an effort to find every detail Rockstar is hiding.

Despite releasing over five years ago, it doesn’t look like we’ll be getting a Red Dead Redemption 3 anytime soon. This isn’t surprising given that Rockstar is hard at work on the development of Grand Theft Auto 6, but in the meantime, players aren’t slowing down in their quest to find every detail hidden in Red Dead Redemption 2’s desert landscape.

One feature that may have gone unnoticed by the majority of players is the ability to explore Mexico. And no, it’s not with the help of mods! However, you will have to take advantage of a small loophole.

The flaw was discovered by Youtuber ZacCoxTV, who made the video “How to get to Mexico in Red Dead Redemption 2” in 2018. Despite the relative age of the flaw, it is still forgotten by players, which makes it asking why Rockstar didn’t include Mexico in the final game.

However, if you want to explore Mexico on your own, you will need to travel to the westernmost point of New Austin and then cross the water on horseback. By aiming for a prominent rock across the water, you’ll soon find yourself discovering a whole new country. Just trot through the narrow canyon, making your way past the invisible barrier and you should get through.

Once in Mexico, you can explore at your leisure, seeing some sites and even a Red Dead Redemption prison. However, stray too far and you will “die”, eventually reappearing on the main map.

This exploitation shows that there might still be secrets to discover in Red Dead Redemption 2 for those smart enough to find them.
