Brazilian Optimist Oakberry Championship promises to rock Florianópolis in January

The ICSC Oceanic Headquarters – Veleiros da Ilha, in Jurerê, will host the 52nd Brazilian Optimist Oakberry Championship, between the 3rd and 14th of January. The event, considered the biggest youth sailing competition in Brazil, will bring together around 300 sailors from 9 Brazilian states, as well as competitors from Argentina and Portugal. After eight years, the capital of Santa Catarina will once once more host the event, which will define the national champions and will also serve as one of the qualifiers for the formation of Brazilian teams in the World, European, North American and South American Championships.

The regatta schedule for the Optimist Oakberry Championship begins on January 4th with the Copa Brasil de Estreantes

“The Brazilian Optimist Oakberry Championship has everything to be one of the biggest events ever held in the country. We have great expectations for the competition. We prepared a lot to receive the athletes, coaches and guardians. It will certainly be ten days of incredible regattas in Jurerê”, comments Luiz Fernando Beltrão, Commodore of Veleiros da Ilha.
