One person died and eight were injured, on Christmas Day (25), as a result of a collision between a Toyota Hilux vehicle and a three-wheeled motorbike, commonly known as “Kaleluia”.
The accident occurred on national road 240, which connects the provinces of Cuando Cubango and Bié, 17 kilometers from Menongue, capital of Cuando Cubango.
Speaking to the press, Marcelo Cabeça Marcelino, accident specialist from the traffic section assigned to the provincial directorate of traffic and road safety, pointed out excessive speed and the motorbike driver’s failure to comply with the highway code as the presumed causes of the accident. .
On that occasion, the person in charge advised driving more carefully, with extra respect for the highway code. Doctor Luciana Soma, from the National Institute of Medical Emergencies in Cuando Cubango, confirmed that the injured are receiving care in the largest hospital unit in the province without life-threatening injuries. But there was a young man who had one of his hands completely cut off.
