In the midst of the economic crisis that the country is going through, constant inflation devastates all sectors. However, the medicines sector presents a certain sensitivity because many of them are vital and yet, its increase this month climbed to 40%, accumulating 300% annually.

According to the interviewee, “Of the 359 pharmacies surveyed, more than 340 stated that social security and prepaid insurance companies take a long time to receive refunds and if they do not receive refunds, they prefer not to sell or not place the order at all.”. And he continued: “When they ask a drugstore or laboratory, the payment is for a very long period of 15 days, which in this situation implies a distortion of prices.”.
Reform in the system and opening of imports
In that same sense, he expressed: “Many drugstores belong to laboratory groups, but on the other hand, the health system in Argentina has also imploded, where reform is needed.”.
When asked regarding the possibility of opening the import of medicines, Calvete He stated that it would be “a good measure” while “there is no laboratory intervention”.
Finally, he expressed: “There are medicines that are much cheaper than those produced here, but due to bureaucratic reasons they do not allow them to be imported and if imports are actually opened it will compensate for the generics.”.
