Cafom took note of the compulsory liquidation of Habitat Design International (HDI) on December 28 and provided an update on its relations with the latter. The specialist in home equipment in Europe and Overseas and owner of the Habitat brand recalls having granted the license of the Habitat brand to the company HDI as part of the sale of the entire capital of the company HDI, October 6, 2020 to the company Terence Capital, owned by Thierry Le Guénic.
This decision was part of the Cafom group’s desire to refocus on the operation of franchises overseas and e-commerce sites.
“At that date, HDI had cash net of financial debts of 15 million euros, 23 million euros in inventory (warehouse and stores), 3 million euros in supplier advances on supply services. logistics and a financing plan validated by the Commercial Court”, recalls Cafom.
In addition to providing the exclusive operating license to HDI, Cafom also provided, through its subsidiary Vente-unique.com, logistics services on behalf of HDI. Over the last financial year ended September 30, 2023, the group invoiced 6.9 million euros to HDI for these services, or 1.7% of the Cafom group’s consolidated turnover.
The latter operates 5 stores overseas under the Habitat brand, which made 6.1 million during the last financial year, and whose activity continues normally.
The Cafom group explains that it took the decision to terminate the brand license due to growing customer dissatisfaction with HDI, particularly with regard to non-delivery of ordered goods. “The effects of this termination were confirmed by an order from the President of the Bobigny Commercial Court,” adds the company.
