The singer Gloria Trevi has sued her former agent and producer Sergio Andrade for sexual abuse, as published this Thursday by the specialized media Variety and Rolling Stones. Now the 55-year-old actress discovers herself as a victim of what she was also her ex-partner, by filing a counter-injunction to the civil lawsuit of a Los Angeles court that accused them both of corruption of minors in January.
The singer – who has proclaimed for years that she was also a victim of Andrade – has decided to tell the music press in a statement regarding the “horrible abuse” she suffered from her ex-partner, who is now 68 years old. In the announcement she explained that for years she has remained silent regarding this sexual abuse to avoid reliving the “horrible experiences” and “protect her children and her family.”
The letter describes that Trevi was being “controlled, mentally and physically tortured and enslaved by Andrade,” who considered her “his most valuable asset” in his “sadistic” sexual network. This spiral of violence denounced by the singer, who was allegedly beaten “brutally” by her ex-partner until she was unconscious and raped repeatedly, would have even led her to think regarding her suicide.
The interpreter of Pelo Suelto, represented by lawyer Johnny Depp, is now positioning herself so that the violent acts she denounces are not repeated. “I have decided to take this legal action to fight for justice and send a message that such heinous acts should not be tolerated. “No one should have to go through what I experienced, and I am determined to hold those responsible accountable for their actions,” her letter stated.
The letter describes the system of abuse that Andrade exercised during the 1990s once morest Trevi and other young women who aspired to enter the world of entertainment thanks to the “position of power and influence” he enjoyed as the brother of a senator. Mexican. “That position allowed him to attract many young women into his sphere of influence, hoping that he would guide them, mentor them, and launch their careers in show business. But once they were drawn to his dreams of stardom, he subjected them to total control and sadistic abuse: mental, financial, physical and sexual. Trevi was one of those young women,” explains his lawyer.
The abuses would have even reached the economic sphere. Trevi alleges that Andrade managed the money he received for the singer’s performances and diverted it through her representation company. The actress in the soap opera Libre para amarte affirms that she might not talk to men other than Andrade.
Andrade and Trevi were accused in the 90s of belonging to an alleged sexual ring. They were arrested in Brazil in 2000 by a Mexican justice order that accused them of kidnapping, rape and corruption of minors. They spent three years in a Brazilian prison, until they were extradited to Mexico, where Trevi was released in 2004 and her ex-partner in 2007.
