Denny Sumargo recently became the public spotlight following reciting two sentences of the creed assisted by Dery ex Vierra.
Denny Sumargo’s action of reading the shahada also reaped pros and cons. Many people think that Denny Sumargo is playing with religion.
Comments regarding Denny Sumargo reading the shahada also came from Ustaz Abdul Somad or who is familiarly called UAS.
In one of the videos circulating on YouTube, UAS received a question from the congregation who asked regarding Denny Sumargo’s recitation of the creed, which he thought was a joke.
“If a non-Muslim says the shahada, does he automatically convert to Islam even if he is just joking?” said UAS reading one of the congregation’s questions.
UAS explained that to become a convert, you don’t just have to read the creed, but it must be accompanied by faith.
He also advised not to play games regarding the reading of this creed.
“If it just makes a sound, the parrot will convert to Islam. Therefore, what is faith? There are three things, expressed with the tongue, justified by the heart, carried out with the body. This is serious, don’t just play around,” he explained.
Denny Sumargo himself has made clarifications regarding the viral creed.
“Actually, there’s no problem for me. What’s the problem when you say the shahada? What is the problem?” said Denny Sumargo.
“For other people, if possible other religions, when it becomes problem, I don’t have a problem. But for me as an individual, there’s no problem,” he continued.
