ALGIERS – The Minister of Environment and Renewable Energy, Fazia Dahleb, announced, Thursday in Algiers, the recent adoption by the Government of a draft executive decree containing several tax facilitations for the benefit of investors in the field of recycling of waste.
In a statement to the press, on the sidelines of a working visit and inspection of sector projects in the capital, Ms. Dahleb assured that this decree “constitutes an incentive factor capable of encouraging the transition to the economy circular”.
The joint draft decree with the Ministry of Finance aims to “define recyclable household waste and the terms of application of tax exemptions and facilitations granted to individuals carrying out recyclable waste collection activities”, she indicated.
The minister also specified that this draft decree “aims to fight once morest informal waste collection, to create wealth and jobs and above all to protect the environment”.
Accompanied by the wali of Algiers, Mohamed Abdenour Rabehi, the president of the Wilaya Popular Assembly, Nadjiba Djilali, and executives from the ministry and the wilaya, Ms. Dahleb also went to the Test Garden botany of Hamma, where she chaired a signing ceremony, by the Management Establishment of the Hamma Garden, of two agreements on environmental training with the National Center for the Development of Biological Resources (CNDRB) and the National Conservatory of Training to the environment (CNEF).
The second stop of this visit, which is part of the improvement of the environmental situation of the capital, was the Baraki wastewater treatment plant, where a presentation was given on incineration experiments joint sewage sludge.
The minister ended her visit by going to the Hamici Technical Landfill Center “GECETAL”, where she kicked off the construction of the fifth landfill trench, which is part of the increasing the center’s capacity to accommodate household and similar waste.
