Specifically, the resolution endorses the authorizations that had already been given by the national directorates of Environmental Assessment and Environmental Impact Assessment and Environmental Risk Analysis that ended on December 8.

The authorizations are given to the plan that includes the seismic prospecting of the subsoil of the three blocks, which Together they cover an area of ​​regarding 8,500 square kilometers. and that were awarded in 2019, during the government of Mauricio Macri.

The blocks They are located a shorter distance from the beach line of Río Grande, in Tierra del Fuego.which ranges from 26 to 22 kilometers, and in all cases are located within the Exclusive Economic Zone of Argentina.

With the countdown now activated for the work, companies will have to go out and hire a special vessel for seismic exploration, which is carried out using sound waves that allow interpretation in 2 and 3D images of the seabed and its geological profiles.

With developments in operations both in Argentine waters and in those dominated by England over the Malvinas, the companies’ expectations of finding hydrocarbons are high, to the point that Equinor highlighted that this is a project that that company prioritized worldwide.
