The Swiss don’t want to go without a car or a vacation
Almost a third of Swiss people expect to have less money in their wallets by 2024.
The Swiss are taking a pessimistic view of the coming year. According to a Comparis survey, they expect financial losses. Nevertheless, they don’t want to do without the car or vacation.
Almost a third of those surveyed expect to have less money in their wallets and accounts by 2024, as Comparis announced on Wednesday. The comparison service writes of a “record level” – in previous years the proportion of those with a negative view was between 13 and 18 percent.
Above all, rising health insurance premiums as well as higher rents and mortgage interest rates are causing the population to fear financial deterioration.
Avoid gadgets
When they have to tighten their belts, respondents are most likely to want to save on new electronic products and gadgets. However, many people hold on to vacations and their own car, as Comparis writes. Only 36 percent would most likely forego vacations and travel. In the previous year it was 41 percent.
The car also remains very popular: only 28 percent of the Swiss surveyed see their own vehicle as an opportunity to do without. This value is lower than in the past three years.
The survey is representative and was carried out in November. On behalf of Comparis, the market research institute Innofact surveyed 1,021 people in all regions of Switzerland.
