The sound of Christmas in the Alps
This ORF III production is a musical journey at Christmas time along the enchanting winter Tyrolean Pitztal. The quiet time of the year is welcomed with traditional folk music and Advent customs. With visually stunning mountain panoramas, local personalities and thoughts to make you pause – presented by Hans Jöchler, an expert on the region. On the way he meets Andreas and his little son Philipp from Jerzens, who cut down their Christmas tree every year from their own forest. With the amount of snow in the Pitztal, this can be a real adventure. In the village of Wenns, countless nativity scenes are put on display at Christmas time, as this is the home of the oldest nativity scene association in the world. On his carriage ride through the winter he also meets a family of alpacas that live on a mountain farm. The crowning conclusion of the program is the Christmas song that conquered the world from Salzburg: Silent Night, Holy Night. (2021)
