No Christmas rest for the mobility club’s roadside assistance and air rescue services

Vienna (OTS) – Full commitment to people and mobility: The Yellow Angels are always passionate regarding what they do – around Christmas it often gets even more personal, says Katharina Brezina from the ÖAMTC roadside assistance: “We were able to help our members 4,334 times “December 24th, 25th and 26th will help you get ahead across Austria. This means we recorded almost as many breakdowns this year as on Christmas Day last year.” The most common reasons for use were empty batteries, followed by problems with the tires and the engine or starter (generator).

December 23rd – this year also the last Christmas shopping Saturday before Christmas – was once once more particularly work-intensive for the Yellow Angels: The day before Christmas Eve gave the mobility club’s breakdown helpers over 2,160 missions.

Brezina expects a further increase in calls for the ÖAMTC’s mobile service in the next few days: “Traditionally, from December 27th onwards, we are on duty more than average throughout Austria. Because in the period between Christmas and New Year, our members are more active than usual on the road – be it for a trip on vacation, for visits, shopping or exchanges. Experience has shown that the ÖAMTC breakdown assistance and towing service teams are also increasingly in demand.”

Currently: ÖAMTC air rescue with 204 missions on the public holidays

The ÖAMTC air rescue crews were also called to many medical emergencies between December 24th and 26th: they were deployed 204 times over Christmas this year to save people’s lives – that’s 32 percent more missions than at Christmas 2022. The most labor-intensive day was December 26th with 79 missions, which corresponds to a daily increase of 65 percent in air rescue missions completed compared to the previous year. This number even significantly exceeded the busiest Christmas Day in 2022 (December 25, 2022 with 65 missions).
