The ZDF “Dream Ship” always expects a lot from its viewers at Christmas. The fact that the always shallow stories are often outrageous is nothing new. But this year will be tough even for die-hard fans.
No time? blue News summarizes for you
- ZDF is showing a “Dream Ship” special at Christmas. The Christmas episode takes viewers to Utah.
- Captain Max Prager (Florian Silbereisen) and staff captain Martin Grimm (Daniel Morgenroht), as well as friend Stefan Fiering (Wolfgang Fierek) take a trip through Monument Valley.
Utah is not by the sea. The US state is not even close to an ocean. But the “dream ship” would not be the “dream ship” if it cared even remotely regarding such secondary imponderables of uncomfortable reality.
Then you just sail to Los Angeles and take the plane from there. This still counts as a cruise to Utah.
You must have thought something like this at ZDF. And so the traditional Christmas episode of the cult series leads to the desert state on the second holiday (Tuesday, December 26th, 8:15 p.m.).
The captains on the motorcycle trip through Monument Valley
Captain Max Parger (Florian Silbereisen/42), who is now slightly gray but is probably still young from the ZDF audience’s perspective, can be beautifully portrayed on the motorcycle in endless expanses and US clichés.
Because the captain goes on a short tour through Monument Valley with his staff captain Martin Grimm (Daniel Morgenroth) and his friend Stefan Fieringen (Wolfgang Fierek). Motorbikes, camping, a real men’s trip. “That’s dangerous,” says his still good friend Hanna Liebhold (Barbara Wussow) when Grimm tells her regarding his plans.
And it will be a bit like that: a black pick-up truck is dangerously approaching the three men. The fact that absolutely nothing happens should not be a spoiler for viewers experienced in “Dream Ship”. What is surprising, however, is that Kai Plum suddenly appears in the desert. The presenter plays a US sheriff – with an accent that is probably supposed to be American – and arrests the two captains, who cannot produce any documents.
At least the 100th episode takes place on the water once more
But Pflaume’s performance, which is more reminiscent of that of a stripper in a police uniform than that of an actual US cop, and the completely absurd answer to the question of why he locks Parger and Grimm in a cell are not even the height of it Grotesques on the new “dream ship”.
The whole thing is topped by the hypochondriac competition between Ingolf Lück and Harald Schmidt in their respective roles as crazy passenger and similarly insane cruise director. The two ruthlessly compete for the attention of the ship’s doctor, Dr. Delgado (Collien Ulmen-Fernandes). This is supposed to be funny.
Things get serious, however, with the obligatory lovers who, following a full-blown crisis (she cheated on him), have to get back together in the 90 “Dream Ship” minutes. Thanks to a breakdown in the desert and an encounter with another couple in crisis, this works reliably right down to the sparklers on the dessert.
By the way, the Utah episode is number 99 in the “Dream Ship” series. The 100th episode will be released on New Year’s Day. Then we should go to Nusantara. At least that’s because of the water.
“The Dreamboat: Utah” will be shown on December 26th at 8:15 p.m. on ZDF.
