[Sports Center/Comprehensive Report]In the hot battle of the All-Japan Comprehensive Badminton Championships, former world queen Nozomi Okuhara defeated college student Haruka Oda 21:15, 21:8, advancing to the top 16 of women’s singles and heading towards her sixth championship in tournament history.
The All Japan Comprehensive Badminton Championship is the highest-level badminton competition in Japan and an important event for selecting national players. This year is the 77th competition. Last year’s women’s singles champion Yamaguchi Akane did not participate due to injury, and Okuhara Nozomi became the favorite to win.

Nozomi Okuhara faced college student Haruka Oda in the first round. Due to the disparity in strength between the two sides, Nozomi Okuhara swept the opponent in straight games in just 31 minutes and easily secured her ticket to the top 16.
When interviewed following the game, Okuhara said directly: “Because it has nothing to do with Olympic points, this is a stage where I can enjoy playing badminton easily and show my playing style following a long time.”
Nozomi Okuhara has spent her career in the All-Japan Comprehensive Badminton Championships, winning the championship in 2011 and 2015, and achieving three consecutive championships from 2019 to 2021.
