Ukraine receives transfer from World Bank on Christmas Day

The finance ministry in Kiev announced on Monday that the money should be used primarily for pension payments and salaries for disaster control employees. According to the announcement, almost one billion euros of the tranche is a loan guaranteed by the Japanese government. The remaining part consists of financial aid from Norway, the USA and Switzerland.

Ukraine has been defending itself once morest the Russian invasion for more than 22 months with massive Western support. According to the Ministry of Finance, Kiev has received the equivalent of over 63 billion euros since the Russian invasion alone to finance the Ukrainian state budget. In addition, there are numerous billions in financial aid from the USA and many other countries.
