The 2023-2037 program contract between the government and Royal Air Maroc (RAM) will connect Mohammed V Airport to a significant number of new destinations, the Minister of Transport and Logistics, Mohammed Abdeljalil, said on Monday in Rabat. .

Responding to an oral question on the cancellation of flights to certain European countries, presented by the group of the National Rally of Independents to the House of Representatives, the minister indicated that within the framework of this program contract, which aims to bring fleet of the national company to 200 aircraft, the canceled lines will be gradually restored, specifying that 33 European cities are currently connected to Moroccan cities, while there were 43 before the covid-19 crisis.

And to add that the cancellation by RAM of air connections to several cities during the covid-19 crisis followed the adaptation of its commercial offer during this global health crisis which had serious repercussions on the air transport sector at the World level.

In this regard, the minister affirmed that like all tourist destinations, the open skies agreement with the European Union makes it possible to connect Moroccan cities to European cities by direct lines.

The program contract will allow RAM to rise to the rank of major airlines on a global and regional scale by increasing its fleet from 50 aircraft currently to 200 aircraft in 2037.

Likewise, it aims to transform the Casablanca hub into a major and most important hub on the African continent.
