There are several ways to experience the day following Christmas Eve. Some return the table, to another member of their family. Others digest, as best they can, the meal served the day before, while showing off the gifts received. As for the latter, they spend a little time online to resell these gifts.

“The results of this new edition are particularly revealing of the impact of inflation on consumption habits”explains Sarah Tayeb, the general director of eBay France, in comments relayed by France Blue . The first reason given for the resale of these gifts is in fact “financial needs” (30% of respondents), just ahead of the desire to buy something you like more (29%).

On the Rakuten side, we report that certain cultural goods are being resold a lot. This is particularly the case for the Prix Goncourt 2023 (Watch over herby Jean-Baptiste Andrea), from the last Asterix album (L’Iris Blanc) or popular video games, like Harry Potter Hogwarts Legacy.
Certain high-tech accessories, such as connected watches or headphones, are also often resold. “These are things that people can have duplicates”underlines Louise Benzrihem, from eBay.
Other solutions
However, if you don’t like your gifts, other solutions exist. All these objects, new or in good condition, can for example bring happiness to disadvantaged people through a donation, to an individual or an association.
In certain cases, upon presentation of a receipt, they can also be exchanged
