Amid the ongoing Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip, US President Joe Biden has once more called on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to protect the civilian population. The White House said on Saturday that Biden, in a phone call with Netanyahu, emphasized the “need” to protect civilians and allow people to shelter from hostilities.
Biden said that those involved in humanitarian aid for the Palestinian territory must also be protected.
Netanyahu’s office said following the conversation that the head of government had made it clear that Israel would continue the war “until all goals have been achieved.” The US government had recently become increasingly critical of the Israeli army’s massive crackdown.
As the Hamas-run Palestinian health authority announced on Saturday evening, the number of Palestinians killed rose by at least 201 within 24 hours to a total of 20,258. There were also 368 other injuries, bringing the number to 53,688, according to the information.
