According to Hans Bonte, thousands of people have received emails in his name, in which the recipient is invited to view documents in Dropbox via a link. The mayor urges residents not to do so and to immediately delete the disputed email.

The city is currently investigating the circumstances of the incident. The email box of his closest colleague was also hacked.
