The Senegalese Navy has announced a new record seizure of cocaine off the coast of Dakar.
The “WALO” patrol boat intercepted a “Go Fast” boat transporting 690 kilograms of cocaine 220 kilometers off the coast. Warning shots were necessary to immobilize the boat which was trying to escape following releasing its illicit cargo.

The five crew members were arrested and brought back to Dakar with the cocaine cargo. The National Navy has declared that it remains determined to prohibit any passage of drugs into the Senegalese exclusive economic zone (EEZ).
This significant seizure demonstrates the ongoing efforts of the Senegalese authorities to combat drug trafficking and strengthen security in the country’s territorial waters. The seized cocaine was believed to have been destined for transport to Europe, highlighting the challenges posed by international drug trafficking in the region.
