The Pongau snowboarders Andreas Prommegger and Claudia Riegler missed the top spots in Davos on Saturday.
The World Cup only has Christmas rest on Christmas Eve. And so the parallel snowboarders were in Switzerland on Saturday, where Davos celebrated a World Cup premiere. While the ÖSV aces Arvid Auner shone with silver and Sabine Schöffmann with bronze, Salzburg’s power duo didn’t think Switzerland was worth traveling to in terms of sport.
Riegler is the series winner
Because Claudia Riegler was eliminated in the parallel slalom in the round of 16 on Saturday following narrowly surviving qualification. Serial winner Ramona Hofmeister, who would later win gold once more, might not be defeated by the 50-year-old from Flachau. Riegler, who won a European Cup race in Davos in 2021, finished 15th overall.
Hundredths of seconds missing
Andreas Prommegger even had to settle for 17th place. The 43-year-old from St. Johann, who recently came second in the giant slalom in Cortina, was two hundredths of a second short of making it into the first knockout round. The two veterans are going into the three-week break without another top spot, before the home classic in Gastein follows on January 16th and 17th.
