NASA has published this new image of the star cluster NGC 2264, also known as the “Christmas Tree Cluster,” which is about 2,500 light-years away from Earth.
NASA was able to observe that the nebula gas around the star cluster resembles pine needles on a Christmas tree, and NASA says that artificially animated blue and white lights represent the positions of the stars seen in X-rays.
The group consists of young stars ranging in age from one year to 5 million years.
