When you’re a child, you don’t always realize that life is difficult. Because we are well supported, because the parents do everything they can to prevent this from falling on the children. But in the end, reality hits you in the face, as Théo, a 5th grade student, tells us.
At 11 years old, Théo has concerns that a child should not have: worrying regarding the rent which falls every month for unsanitary housing, electricity and water bills. His parents often discuss the rising prices of consumer goods and the difficulty of going shopping without being able to buy everything you would like. But Théo puts things into perspective, he has a wisdom that adults sometimes don’t have: “as long as we eat, that’s the main thing…“
His family cannot afford to travel, so when his friends go on vacation, Théo stays in Belgium.
He does not dream of an imperial palace, “For me, if I have my room to myself and I live well, that’s the main thing.“A dream that should be a reality for all children. He shares his unsanitary accommodation with his parents and his two sisters. Impossible to renovate it due to lack of money but he would like to become an architect,”I hope I live my life well.“
We realize it, you are there, faithful! But at this point in the operation we can only say one thing: we must continue. Knowing that many children do not have shelter, warm clothing, or adequate food is completely unacceptable.
Thousands of children are helped and supported by associations in Wallonia and Brussels. So that they can continue to do so, and help more children, make a donation!
