Alexandria Governorate Weather Update: Heavy Rain, Winds, and Emergency Preparations

Today, Friday, Alexandria Governorate witnessed heavy rain in several areas of the governorate, with active wind movement, and low temperatures, the first day of winter, with the maximum temperature recording 21 degrees and the minimum temperature 13 degrees.

Major General Mahmoud Nafie, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Alexandria Sanitation Company, announced that the company had lifted the state of emergency in preparation for the rain, according to the Meteorological Authority’s forecast that Alexandria Governorate would be exposed to rain today, Friday, and the following measures were taken:

– The degree of preparations has been increased and water lifting vehicles and pedals have been deployed

– Continuation of disinfection work for shanaish, maqabat, and sewers

– Continuing the work of emptying the tanks of the lifting stations around the clock

– Follow up bank levels around the clock.

– Stopping vacations and rest allowances for all employees.

Nafi stressed that the emergency room and the hotline 175 will continue to operate throughout the day to receive citizens’ complaints and work to resolve them immediately. He noted the presence of sector heads and general managers in their work areas and to constantly check on the smooth progress of work, ensure that there are no problems in the networks, and take the necessary action immediately. Regarding any complaints.

He emphasized full coordination with the holding company’s operations room, the governorate and district operations room, and all executive agencies, so that no Alexandrian citizen is harmed.

The Meteorological Authority expects today, Friday, to witness active winds stirring sand and dust over areas of Greater Cairo, Lower Egypt, the northwestern coasts, and the northern Red Sea Governorate, and leading to deterioration of horizontal visibility over areas of the northeastern coasts, the canal cities, Sinai, and northern Upper Egypt at intermittent intervals.

Today also witnesses pleasant weather during the day in Greater Cairo, Lower Egypt, the northern coasts, and northern Upper Egypt, moderate in South Sinai and South Upper Egypt, and cold at night in most parts.

Today, the Meteorological Authority expects moderate rain on areas of the northwestern coasts and northern Lower Egypt with an incidence rate of (approximately 60%), light rains on the southernmost ranges of the Red Sea mountain ranges with an incidence rate of (approximately 30%), and in the case of Bahrain, the Mediterranean Sea is moderate to turbulent with wave heights. (3:2 metres), and the Red Sea is moderate, with waves rising (2.25:1.5 metres).

As for the temperatures today, Friday: Greater Cairo is 20 degrees and the lowest is 14, Alexandria is 21 and the lowest is 13, Matrouh is 20 degrees and the lowest is 12, Great Sohag is 22 degrees and the lowest is 12, Greater Qena is 23 degrees and the lowest is 13, and Great Aswan is 24 degrees and the lowest is 15.
