The wait is over, because with “Orcunadoras – Chapter Four: Hermit” the Viennese folk metallers have perfected it NEMOREUS their album of the same name “Orcunadoras”. Not entirely, because in addition to the three songs from each of the four EPs, there is an additional song on the long player. But more on that later in the associated review.
Fans of harder tones can definitely look forward to it, because with “Devils Machinery” fronter Fabian Zechmeister’s growls return for the first time since the first of the four EPs entitled “Wanderer”. The song is a bit more complex and unwieldy, but convinces with a skilful mix of heaviness, folk elements and a catchy chorus.
And so NEMOREUS show once once more that they can create a wonderful folk/medieval/fantasy feeling and know how to fuse genres, because the slight true/power metal side can also be felt in this song. “Black Roses” begins quietly and develops into a pure and driving anthem in which the medieval instruments are pushed further into the spotlight. With “Full Reboot” there are dreamy, ancient sounds, memorable vocals and the necessary portion of pathos that such a power folk song needs.
This is how NEMOREUS concludes their four-part series with variety and can definitely live up to expectations. We’ll report back here shortly on how the four parts plus another track work as a whole! Fans of varied and direct folk metal with genre excursions in different directions will definitely get their money’s worth here.
