The permit granted to SNCB is accompanied by 47 conditions, including the creation of a support committee, as desired by the Ottignies-Louvain-la-Neuve municipal college. Its objective will be to enable dialogue between the different stakeholders linked to this project, including local residents, and to ensure proper monitoring of the site.
It must be said that the work to come will be of an exceptional scale. It’s not just regarding building a new building for railway users. For example, the esplanade located in front of the station will also be extensively redeveloped and considerably enlarged, which will double the capacity of the bus station. And cyclists have not been forgotten, several hundred spaces for bicycles are also planned. Ottignies will become a leading multimodal hub, with some shops and catering, in a more welcoming and comfortable environment for all users.
