Exciting National League Action: Friborg, Lausanne, and Ajoie Secure Wins, Geneva Falls Short

Pleasant evening for Friborg (3-0 success), Lausanne (3-1) and Ajoie (3-2 ap) in the National League. Less for Geneva beaten 2-0 in Ambri.

Friborg hosted a decimated Lugano and Friborg did not miss its task. The Ticinese managed to beat Kloten on Tuesday evening, but with Michael Joly missing – provisionally suspended for hitting a referee – the task was complicated.

But the game took a while to settle. The Freiburgers only lit the lamp in the 40th minute by Wallmark with a superb placed shot and a very nice pass from Sörensen. Then in the 44th minute, it was the great story of the evening with Andreï Bykov’s goal. The number 89 thus responded in the most beautiful way to the announcement of the non-extension of his contract with the Dragons.

De la Rose then put Gottéron away with a power play in the 50th minute. Julien Sprunger might also have scored a goal, but a coach’s challenge for an offside deprived him of this 4-0.

Lausanne is recovering

Lausanne had to bounce back following Tuesday’s defeat once morest Zurich. And the LHC largely dominated the debates. It is no coincidence that the Vaudois led 2-0 following the first twenty minutes thanks to Riat and Salomäki a few seconds from the end of the first third.

The Vaudois thought they had done the hard part in the 29th minute when Kenins thought they made it 3-0, but an offside from the Latvian, confirmed by the coach’s challenge, deprived him of this goal. The number 81 consoled himself in the 60th by scoring 3-1 in the empty cage. Geoff Ward’s players had a small drop of sweat when Schmutz reduced the score 23 seconds from the end of the third period. But the Lions did not deserve to lose a match which they dominated, notably with 42 shots on the Emmental cage.

Lausanne can also thank Ajoie. Because the Jurassians arranged the Vaudois well by winning in Berne 3-2 AD. The Bears are now five points behind the Vaudois. And the Ajoulots did not steal this success. Adam Rundqvist opened the scoring in the 4th, before Lehmann equalized in the 14th. Kyen Sopa regained the lead in the 39th, but Luoto equalized (54th). Ajoie held on despite two penalties at the end of the match and it was Asselin who was able to give his colors the second point in the 63rd.

Geneva loses the match and Winnik

We knew that Ambri’s trip would not be easy for Geneva. Well this was confirmed at the foot of the Gotthard. The Genevans not only lost the match, but they are likely to have lost Daniel Winnik for a good while. During an action with Virtanen, the Canadian striker fell and immediately held his left knee. He left the ice in tears.

Too penalized, the Eagles gave in during the third period with a success from Dauphin (46th) and another from Heim (54th). This defeat logically puts a stop to Jan Cadieux’s men and above all offers three points to the Léventins, which allows them to move to 7th place with two lengths ahead of the Garnet.

Rajala scores once more, but Biel loses

Biel can blame itself. Because Biel was leading 3-1 in Davos when Toni Rajala scored his 13th goal of the year four seconds from the second siren. But a double from Finnish defender Näkyvä sent everyone into overtime. The game was finally decided on penalties and Davos won by scoring twice once morest a single goal, from Rajala, for Biel. Note the new success of Aleksi Heponiemi.

The top match between Zurich and Zug turned to the advantage of Dan Tangnes’ men. A 3-2 victory following a goal from Michaelis in power play following a penalty from Malgin. The Z center scored 2-2 but subsequently took two penalties, the last of which was in overtime. But the Zurich residents are still four points ahead of their runner-up in the standings.

In the last match of the evening, Rapperswil beat Kloten 5-3. Roman Cervenka found some color with a goal and two assists.
