SKN women’s CL game in Prague canceled after rampage

The St. Pölten Women’s Champions League game once morest Slavia Prague scheduled for Thursday (today) at 9 p.m. has been canceled a little less than two hours before the start of the game following the tragic events in the Czech capital. Slavia announced this on its social media channels. There is not yet an alternative date for the game in the fourth round of Group B.

According to Czech police, more than 15 people were killed and dozens injured by gunfire at Charles University in Prague on Thursday followingnoon. The shooter was also among the dead, authorities said. “Today’s Champions League game in the Eden Arena will not take place due to the tragic events at the Faculty of Arts at Charles University,” Slavia announced on its social media channels a few hours later.

The SKN, which like Slavia only got one point in the first three games, needs a win in the duel with the Czechs if it wants to get into the fight for promotion to the quarter-finals. The first showdown between the two teams ended 0-0 on December 13th in St. Pölten.
